Hygiene is paramount in a clinical setting. The interior base of every single circular opening is designed with a conical funneling base leading through-hole fluid drainage port.

No Trapped Bioburden: When cleaning or spraying down the holder between patients, residual moisture, cold sterilization fluid, or ultrasonic cleaning solution drains out immediately.

No Material Pooling: Eliminates the hidden, unhygienic pooling of spilled fluids or dust common in closed-bottom plastic organizers.

High-Performance Material & Sterilization Compliance
This model is engineered to handle demanding, modern dental production workflows:

Print using high-temperature engineering polymers like PEEK, PPSU, or PEI (Ultem). This allows the holder to undergo repeated Steam Autoclave Sterilization cycles (134°C / 273°F) alongside your hand instruments without warping or structural degradation.

Office & Lab Workflow: Can alternatively be printed in high-flow PETG or PETG HF for excellent, long-term chemical resistance against heavy surface disinfectants and alcohol wipes.

Design & Printing Pro-Tips for UV Sterilization:
If you or your clinical customers plan to utilize UV-C sterilization chambers ($254\text{nm}$ wavelength) for our dental holders, keep these critical engineering guidelines in mind to maximize hygiene and print longevity:

– Opt for PETG HF (High Flow): When printing on high-speed setups, choose PETG HF over standard PETG. Its specialized flow modifiers allow the plastic to fuse much more fluidly. When combined with the Arachne Slicer Engine, the perimeters meld together tightly, leaving almost no micro-ridges or “shadow zones” in the layer lines where bacteria can hide from UV rays.

– Avoid Clear or Translucent Filaments: Transparent filaments can refract or scatter UV light unpredictably rather than absorbing it cleanly across the structural boundaries. Stick to solid, opaque dental colors—like medical grey, deep blue, or matte black—to ensure maximum surface energy absorption.

– Account for Material Aging: Standard PETG is not inherently UV-stabilized. Over months of continuous, high-intensity UV-C cycles, the polymer chains will undergo slow photo-oxidation. Because these are low-stress tool holders, a slight color yellowing or gradual embrittlement won’t affect daily performance, but expect to re-print your operatory suites every 12 to 18 months for peak mechanical fresh-ness.

– The “Hybrid” Disinfection Protocol (Critical): UV sterilization is strictly a line-of-sight technology—the light cannot sterilize what it cannot physically see. Because bur blocks and material trays feature deep internal pockets, the UV bulbs cannot reach the very bottom of the slots.

The Recommended Workflow: For absolute clinical hygiene, always spray or wipe the holder down with a standard surface disinfectant (like Cavicide) first. Allow the fluid to pull any trapped bioburden out through the built-in drainage holes, and then place the holder into the UV chamber to sanitize the high-touch exterior handling surfaces.

3D Printing Slicer Optimization
Support-Free Design: The internal drainage cones and exterior thumb grooves are designed with maximum 45° overhang constraints, allowing the entire model to print 100% support-free directly on the build plate.

Wall Generator: Use the Arachne Engine in Bambu Studio to ensure smooth, concentric printed paths around the internal circular pocket walls.

Wall Loops: A minimum of 3–4 walls is recommended to ensure the dividers between the slots are completely solid and rigid.
